Q & A
How are we rehearsing?
Dancers will be given videos at the start of the rehearsal process to learn phrases. Dancers are free to learn the phrases at their own rate and are encouraged to practice using improv to get in and out of the phrases and create different versions of the phrases. There will be "pop-up" rehearsals each week on Zoom or in a park for those who wish to receive feedback or ask questions while practicing. Pop-up rehearsals will be at different times each week to try to ensure everyone can get a chance to get to some regardless of work or school schedules.
How much of the dancing is improv and how much is phrase-work?
There will be 1 group phrase that will be learned and rehearsed and performed during the installation, and the rest of the work will be improv with phrasework incorporated if desired.
How will I be assigned a character?
In line with our no-audition policy, roles and characters will not be assigned, they will be chosen by the dancers at the cast meeting on September 9th based on scheduling and technical needs of the dancers.
If I don't want to commit to the requirements to receive the stipend, can I still participate?
If the stipend requirements don't sound like fun, just check the "waive the stipend" box when filling out the performer commitment form, and we will still be excited to have you!
What if I can't make it to the cast meeting or dress rehearsal?
If you cannot make it to the cast meeting, we can send a recording of the meeting after and touch base about characters individually. If you cannot make it to the dress rehearsal, a make-up dress rehearsal can be arranged.
