We are looking for dancers ages 8+ with several years of ballet experience to perform in Ballet Nocturne’s Baltimore themed production of the Nutcracker!

Dancers from any studio are welcome.

Dancers should arrive 15 minutes early to auditions and be prepared to dance, dressed in ballet attire.

REGISTRATION

Audition registration can be completed online ahead of time via the form below or on paper the day of the audition. If you opt to register the day of the audition, please plan to arrive 30 minutes early. There is a non-refundable $50 audition registration fee that goes towards production costs, including studio and theater rentals, costumes, sets, etc. so we may provide our dancers with a high quality experience.

WHO CAN AUDITION?

Dancers must be 8 by the performance date to audition. Dancers 18 and over can participate in solos, duets, or group dances, and should fill out their separate audition form.

LOCATION

Auditions are held at the Creativity Center at the Baltimore Creative Alliance. This is the large building across the street from the theater. There is street parking on all streets nearby, but the easiest places to find parking are the residential streets running north and south or along Patterson Park.

TIME COMMITTMENT 

Dancers must be available all day on Dec 19th for matinee and evening performances, as well as the evenings of Dec 14-18 for full cast dress rehearsals.​ Dancers under 18 must also be available for weekly rehearsals.

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Weekly rehearsals will be held in Baltimore, Towson, and Havre de Grace. Dancers will mark which locations they can rehearse at in their registration forms, as well as times they are available. Every effort will be made to accommodate dancers' location and schedule preferences, but we cannot guarantee that all preferences will be honored.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance at weekly rehearsals is taken very seriously. Any dancer who misses more than 3 weekly rehearsals may be removed from the show in order to ensure all dancers are prepared adequately for the performance. Any conflicts with rehearsal times must be communicated at the earliest opportunity to allow the group to plan around absences.​

Attendance at dress and tech rehearsals is mandatory. Dance is a group activity, and we rely on each other for stage cues, musicality, and partnering, so a missing dancer will not only make that dancer unprepared for the show, it will create a chain reaction of dancers who feel unprepared. For this reason, we take attendance seriously and ask that our dancers do as well.
